Dan forwarded me this awesome photo of a dummy hanging from a rain gutter along with a tipped ladder and a strand of Christmas lights. The owner of the house got into some trouble after a couple of days and had to take it down. Said the owner:
Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.Great stories. But two things made me take it down.
First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.
Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.

I didn’t learn how to swim until I was 10. Cartney turns two and a half next week and he swims like a fish. Here he is diving to the bottom of the pool to retrieve his swimsticks. His bouyancy sometimes has to be overcome by Jess pushing him to the bottom, which she describes as “counter-intuitive to all my motherly instincts.”
Love having a gym membership to a place with a big indoor pool!

The New York Times recently published a list of items you can get for the “Colored” person on your shopping list, which includes makeup, clothing and books. Here is one book the Times forgot to include:
The book is called “Visiting Day.” Its described as:
While not every family can relate, no family can really call itself normal (certainly not perfect) so who are we to judge this book by its cover? Unfortunately when parents or other family members make mistakes it’s the kids who suffer the most. Visiting Day approaches the subject of dealing with an incarcerated family member without judgment.
Aww. The book is about getting all dressed up and driving cross-state to visit Daddy who is locked up for a reason that you shouldn’t judge him for, because that would be bad. So the fact that he’s locked up must therefore be completely arbitrary, which makes the whole situation incredibly cruel to just you, for which we simply laugh!
Look, visiting day may indeed be special to many children, but don’t pretend that there is no real reason why Daddy is locked up with murderers and rapists!

I spend about 70 bucks on my christmas tree every year, choosing what I think is the prized selection among the locally delivered Douglas Firs. Generally I choose a slender tree with soft bristles about 8 or nine feet tall. I love the way my tree looks, and to me, its the ideal American style for a Christmas tree. But trees didn’t always look this way. Below are some pics cribbed from my favorite photo site, Shorpy, along with comments about how trees assumed their present form:

I love the fact that it nearly takes over the room and that there is room to breathe between the branches that allows the ornaments and ropes of glass balls to be draped and displayed in all their glory.
This is the kind of tree my grandparents always had–very big and wide and decorated with the exact same ornaments. The only thing missing is Angel Hair (was it actually fiber glass?). My grandmother went through a big angel hair period before she moved on to tinsel.
I’ve observed that in old photos of plain and poorly shaped women as well as poorly shaped Christmas trees, many viewers raise the subject of appearance. We had trees like this when I was young, usually because Dad always got one that was way too tall and we had to cut off to fit it in the room. We had one as recently as about 20 years ago that looked like a giant tumbleweed, rather shapeless and sparse.
Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how different Christmas trees looked back in the day. I don’t mean the decorations, I mean the actual shape of the tree.
Is it because they were just chopped from somewhere by the homeowners? Or maybe there is a species that has been developed for mass consumption today?
That’s a big effin’ tree.

This is your tax dollars at work in Washington DC. A truant officer arrests children on the street only to later determine that the kids have the day off because their private school doesn’t share the same holiday schedule. And it is too difficult for truant officers to keep track of all of those different schools. Oh, and there are no seatbelts in the child catcher van.

Parents are questioning D.C. Police policy after several private school students were picked up by a truancy officer and transported in a van without seat belts.
The incident happened in November, when four children who attend St. Peter’s Interparish School on Capitol Hill were stopped by a Metropolitan Police Department Truancy Officer and asked why they weren’t in school.
The students, two 8-year-olds and two 12-year-olds, told the officer that they attend a private Catholic school, which was closed that day, and asked the officer to call their parents.
However, the officer insisted on driving the students to their homes so she could speak with one of the parents face-to-face. The police van did not have enough working seat belts for all of the kids.
Police policy is that private school students who are out of school on a day that public schools are in session must carry a letter from the school.
Some parents find the requirement a bit excessive.

Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Recently he was appointed by the Obama administration to run the Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools in the US Department of Education. In 2007 Kevin Jennings was paid $273,573.96 as the executive director of GLSEN.
In 2000 GLSEN held a conference that was not so much about tolerance as it was about teaching children about sex. During this conference for kids as young as age 14, he instructed them on how to cruise public parks for anonymous sexual encounters with gay men. But while anally penetrating some queer hiding behind the bushes in the park, nothing would proclaim louder that you “respect yourself” like wearing a condom. Seriously, it was all in the guide handed out to the children. An excerpt is below:

I confirmed with Google this morning that the Goggles app will indeed reach other platforms. You may not want to hold your breath, however, for the Android exclusivity to end.
“It is our intention to quickly develop Goggles for the most popular mobile handsets and platforms,” Google’s Katie Watson tells me. “Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific timeframe to share.”
I certainly hope they get Goggles finished up soon. Its almost Christmas and I don’t want Bruce Willis to kill that guy.

A florida judge has ordered a makeup artist to cover up the neo-nazi tattoos of a man accused of murdering his neighbor with a knife because he didn’t like blacks visiting their home. Why the makeup? Judge fears that the swastika tattoo will prejudice the jury. The kicker? The skinhead got the tattoos after he was arrested. I don’t know who makes the worst decisions- the judge or the accused.

A court is paying for a Neo-Nazi accused of murder to get an extreme makeover.
A judge has agreed the Florida court will spend up to $150 per day for the duration of 23-year-old John Ditullio’s trial for a makeup artist to conceal the accused killer’s face and neck tattoos.
Ditullio sports barbed wire across his face, an expletive on one side of his neck, and a Neo-Nazi symbol on the other side.
His attorney said covering the tattoos is necessary to see justice is served.
“When you have offensive tattoos people are going to judge you. It wouldn’t be fair to judge him because the trial should be about the facts, not about tattoos,” Bjorn Brunvand said. Ditullio’s attorney also admits Ditullio is a member of a Neo-Nazi compound that is next door to the victim’s home, but maintains Ditullio’s innocence and claims he is a victim of mistaken identity.
Prosecutors say letting Ditullio cover up the hate inked on his neck lets him hide the Neo-Nazi affiliations they claim motivated him to commit murder.
Can you get a whiter name that “Bjorn Brunvand?” And a lawyer says that being in court is not about “judging people?” Sheesh, if you can’t judge someone in court, then where can you do it?
I think the tattoos should remain uncovered as a testimony to Ditullio’s decision-making skills. And no matter how bad you think your neighborhood is, at least you don’t have a neo-nazi compound next door. Only in Florida.

In Saudi Arabia, the only people treated worse than the women are the hired maids, who are essentially household slaves. In fact, there are numerous stories of abuse and neglect when it comes to the treatment of these servants. But one maid really made her master angry. So angry he called her out in the local Saudi Newspaper:

It is shaping up to seem that not only is James Ray culpable for the deaths of four people and the injury of many others, but his hired staff looks to share much of the blame as well. Paramedics who showed up to respond to 911 calls to the Sedona sweat lodge thought at first that the scene was a mass suicide attempt!

Former James Ray employee, Melinda Martin, told ABC’s Nightline that the paramedics who first arrived on the scene of the October 8, 2009 James Ray “Spiritual Warrior” sweat lodge retreat thought they had arrived at an attempted mass suicide. That is how horrifically out of control the situation had become.
Ms. Martin described how one man suffered severe burns. She said, “One guy, he had fallen into the pit in the middle, fallen into the pit of molten rocks and he had burned his entire arm. And all the white of his skin was gone. The skin was just hanging off of his elbow, down his legs, down both sides of his arm.” This victim was so controlled by Ray that he went back into the sweat lodge! This is the type of mind control that Charles Manson had over his followers.
People were so ill they were projectile vomiting, and so weak they were laying in their own vomit. When Ms. Martin told more senior James Ray International employees she wanted to call 911, she was told not to call because that happened before and James Ray was very angry about it.
Colleen Conaway was a new follower of James Ray. She was in debt to Ray for $12,000.00. At one of Ray’s events a few months prior to the deadly sweat lodge fiasco, Ms. Conaway committed suicide. Ray and his staff were so insensitive to her wellbeing that she layed in the morgue for seven hours before they decided to see what happened to her. For those seven hours she was simply tagged as a “Jane Doe”.
So the James Ray employees also knew that they were pushing the limits of people and even actively discouraged calls for medical assistance. Someones got lots of lawsuits coming their way.

Jason Michael Hamilton is a rich white kid from Northern Virginia, and judging by his haircut and the fact he lived in his Mom’s basement, he was an Obama voter too. He brought a rifle to his Community College class to shoot his teacher but he murdered the wall instead. He probably won’t see the light of day until he’s 35 now.

In a scene reminiscent of other school shootings, a Northern Virginia Community College teacher spotted a weapon and ducked to avoid gunfire. Students ran from the classroom building while others barricaded themselves inside, piling desks in front of doors.
This time, though, no one was hurt.
Police said Jason Michael Hamilton, 20, opened fire in a classroom Tuesday with a high-powered rifle, but did not hit anyone and surrendered peacefully in a hallway. He was later charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm in a school zone and was being held without bond.
A neighbor described Hamilton as a loner who lived in his family’s basement in an affluent new subdivision near the school in Woodbridge.
Luckily no one was hurt, but where’s the police brutality when you need it?

I was at a government agency today doing some network analysis when I came across a PDF invoice. It was for a brain. The agency had taken a brain, put it in a box with some tissues and mailed it to someone and then issued a bill for some small sum of cash asking for payment. Payment for the brain.
Now I understand that when you donate your body to science that people will use your body parts for different things. And it makes sense that a Federal Agency that deals with scientists would need to move organs around for those scientists. But I had never given it much thought until I saw the invoice.

This is a song which is really upbeat and happy about “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” who, sadly, recently died of lupus.

‘Lucy,’ the upbeat sing-along pop gem he recorded with James Scott Cook, wasn’t intended to be Lennon’s comeback song. But Lennon, who was originally supposed to sing only background vocals on the track, simply had to do the song as a duet.
It’s hard to deny the fates that brought the two men together, both of whom had a Lucy in their lives who suffered from Lupus. For Scott, it’s his 89-year-old grandmother, and for Lennon, it was childhood friend Lucy Vodden, who his father immortalized in pop music history on ‘Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.’ Vodden died from the disease in September at the age of 46.
The video draws heavily on that history, with Lennon seen coloring with crayons — Beatles fans will surely know that the song ‘Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds’ came from a drawing young Julian did of his friend — and a young girl, presumably a Lucy, seen playing on a schoolyard with friends.
For Lennon, the song, which raises money for Lupus research, is a fitting tribute to his childhood friend. “After hearing of her passing, the least I could do was something in her honor and her name that would bring more awareness and light to the disease she died of.”

A former cast member of the 1980s television show “Family Ties” has been arrested for investigation of assault in Colorado.
28-year-old Brian Bonsall got into a fight at an apartment on Saturday and hit a friend with part of a broken wooden stool.
He is being held in the Boulder County Jail and was due in court Wednesday. Jail records didn’t indicate his lawyer’s name.
Family Ties was cursed. Just look at how twitchy it made Michael J. Fox and how fat it made Tina Yothers.

Remember how Sara Palin was brutally criticized for allowing hunters to kill wolves using helicopters to protect their land, families and livestock? Well, Obama is using helicopters to round up wild mustangs and forcing them into cattle cars for forced relocation. Its like a Horsey Holocaust!

One of most stirring symbols of the American West — mustangs thundering freely across the range — could be heading east.
The government wants to carry out what is believed to be the biggest-ever roundup of wild horses on federal land, moving as many as 25,000 mustangs and burros to pastures in the Midwest and East out of fear their fast-multiplying numbers will lead to mass starvation.
The plan is facing heated opposition from advocates, including celebrities Sheryl Crow, Bill Maher and Ed Harris, who contend the proposal is itself inhumane and unnecessary. They say the situation is not as dire as the government has painted it.
The government argues that the mustang population in 10 Western states is growing so rapidly that the horses are quickly running out of food, in part because of drought ravaging the region.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the BLM, a part of the Interior Department, would instead ship 11,500 to 25,000 horses from the range to pastures and corrals in the Midwest and East.
Ranchers view wild horses as a menace to their grazing land and were allowed to kill them until 1971, when the practice was banned. The government has made numerous efforts of its own over the years to control the population, including using a contraceptive vaccine. But capturing and injecting mares with the vaccine one at a time has proved costly and time-consuming.
In recent years, the government has rounded up and relocated wild horses to other lands in the West. Helicopters are used to drive the mustangs toward cowboys with lassos. The cowboys then put the horses onto trucks.
I predict that hundreds of these horses will die cruelly because of bureaucratic bungling. And how much money does it waste to force horses to take birth control pills? How expensive will the relocation be? Wouldn’t it be easier to just euthanize them or hunt them?
But you won’t hear about too many liberals criticizing Obama over this. You can force-march ponies cross country using a helicopter if you are the first black President. But if you are a woman Governor, you can’t kill a dangerous, encroaching carnivore using a chopper.

Teaching kids about “fisting” which is about shoving your fist into some queer’s rectum is all about tolerance. Tolerance for extremely deviant behavior, and one that could lead to internal bleeding, rectal prolapse (think about a pink sock), spread of HIV, Hepatitis and more. Oh, that and the ettiquette of spitting versus swallowing.
Now, I have no problems discussing these things in clinical terms. I know and understand people engange in some really bizarre behavior and act out in destructive ways, with drugs, sex and alcohol. One of my favorite radio shows is Love Line where Dr. Drew seriously discusses these issues and shines the light of addiction and abuse on these kinds of behavior.
But its completely different for the government to sponsor and pay exhorbitant amounts of money to homosexual activists to indoctrinate school children to this behavior without a serious discussion of right versus wrong and what consequences there are to these types of behavior.

Harry Reid is the most dour old crank in the US Senate, and he is also in charge. Today he said that opponents of ObamaCare used the same delaying tactics of urging Senators to wait on a vote- the same tactics used by opponents of ending slavery, and the same tactics used by those that opposed granting the civil rights to blacks. If my history is correct, wasn’t it Democrats that opposed ending slavery? Wasn’t it Democrats that opposed the civil rights laws? I think Democrats have it wrong now too of course.
