With a tattoo gun.
A pervert man molested and killed 10 year old Katie Collman. He abducted her, molested her and then killed her, dumping her body in a creek. He confessed to the crime in a plea bargain and is serving life in prison.
Well, Katie’s older cousin was in prison too, serving on a burglary rap. He somehow got hold of a tattoo gun and a camera, and he attacked the perverted killer. With his hand on his throat, he told the killer that he was either going to be stabbed and left to bleed or he was going to get a tattoo. The killer chose the option that let him live. Then the cousin took a photo of the tattoo and somehow managed to post it on the Internet.

An inmate accused of forcibly tattooing a slain 10-year-old girl’s name onto her killer’s forehead in an Indiana prison was the victim’s cousin, a family friend said.
Jared Harris, 22, is a cousin of Katlyn “Katie” Collman, family friend and spokesman Terry Gray told The Republic newspaper.
Harris, 22, who is serving time on a burglary conviction at Wabash Valley state prison in Carlisle, has been charged with battery and accused of tattooing “KATIE’S REVENGE” across Anthony Ray Stockelman’s forehead.
Stockelman is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to abducting, molesting and killing the fourth-grader, who lived about 70 miles south of Indianapolis. She was missing for five days before her body was found January 30, 2005, in a creek about 15 miles from her home.
Harris slipped into the open cell Stockelman shared with another prisoner on September 22 and, when Stockelman returned, Harris closed the locking cell door, according to the affidavit.
Stockelman told investigators that Harris put his right hand around his throat and told him, “I’m either gonna stick you and leave you bleeding or I’m gonna tattoo you.”

It is extremely rare for SCADA systems to be attacked. SCADA systems are computers that control sensors or mechanical components that either report status back to a control center or change the mechanical status to affect a working system. Like opening valves or reporting the levels in a mixture tank.
In practically all cases, such systems are protected from Internet Access both logically and physically. Control operators must go through quite a few loops to access the system from any remote region. It is done this way deliberately to prevent accidents or attacks in which the computers begin to falsely report status or will alter valves or mechanical status without authorization.

Hacker hits Pennsylvania water system
The FBI in Philadelphia is investigating how a hacker bypassed security and compromised the computer of a Harrisburg, Pa., water filtration plant.
FBI Special Agent Jerri Williams told ABC News the apparent motive in the Columbus Day attack wasn’t to disrupt the plant’s operation, but rather to use its computer to covertly distribute mass e-mails or pirated software.
“The concern was high because it is a computer that controls an important infrastructure system, and if, for some reason, it caused it to fail, it would have disrupted service,” Williams said.
The hacker originally gained access by tapping into an employee’s laptop, officials said. Since the intrusion, the plant has changed all passwords to the system and eliminated home access to the system, ABC said.
So it looks like an employee neglected to update his own laptop, and he likely got hit with a drive-by download of botnet software. It was through this backdoor into the laptop that the hacker leaped across the network to compromise the SCADA host.
Philadelphia can be thankful that the hacker didn’t know what he compromised, or else the water might taste funny at this point. The SCADA host was intended to be used to distribute pirated software and act as a spam relay.
It should be noted that the excellent folks at the Water ISAC followed the plans and got the FBI involved at the proper time, as is outlined by DHS.

But predatory stalking by kid touchers is still unchecked by technology.
Myspace is using technology to screen all uploaded content against digital fingerprints and signatures of copyrighted works, and will strip “offending” content from its members’ pages. This is of course, in response to threats of lawsuits. From the BBC here:
Social networking site MySpace is to block users from uploading copyrighted music to its pages. It will use a file-filtering application to scan old and new content to weed out any unauthorized material.
Illegal files, the company said, would be removed and persistent offenders would be banned from the site.
Online sites are coming under increasing pressure from the music industry to stop copyright infringement on their pages.
MySpace, which reportedly has over 90 million users, is to use technology from a company called Gracenote to review and identify copyright files on its site.
MySpace can use technology to filter out files, but they can’t use technology to filter out common words and phrases that would likely denote child predatory practices? They can’t use technology to flag personal pages that may be exposing too much information about a child? They can’t use technology to notice when someone “comment swarms” a profile indicating an arrest or death of a member?
The technology exists, and Myspace has the money to implement such safety features. But they haven’t done it because the threat of monetary loss due to copyright lawsuits are more pressing. Maybe if MySpace were sued by grieving parents of children murdered or molested by MySpace members, such technology would be implemented.

I have documented in this space numerous times how the government and private industry have been screwing their employees and taxpayers by losing sensitive data to theft and downright negligence. You can click here to see the previous stories.
But now Seagate has come out with a new hard drive that is automatically encrypted. This will be a huge boon for the privacy and protection of data, and will help serve as an insurance policy against theft or negligence.

Seagate Debuts New Hard Drives with Built-In Encryption
Seagate Technology will soon begin shipping its first hard drives with special encryption chips that will make it impossible to read data off the disk — or even boot up a PC — without some form of authentication.
The new Momentus 5400 FDE.2 (Full Disk Encryption 2), geared to notebook computers, will come in several capacities, including 80 GB, 120 GB, and 160 GB. Seagate said it expects to ship the drives early next year.
The world’s first laptop hard disk with built-in encryption could help reduce the impact of losing a laptop loaded with sensitive files. Protecting data at the hard drive level — rather than just at the level of the operating system — will offer another layer of defense against thieves.
Now the Government should fast track the accreditation process on this new drive and require it in all future laptops. And for all of those companies that do audits- you should get them too and stop embarrassing yourselves when you lose the data from the company you are auditing.

At least according to a German court. A stupid woman paid a witch 1200 bucks for a love potion that failed. She sued and got her money back.

Witch Must Refund Fee For Failed Love
A German court has ordered a self-proclaimed witch to give her client a refund after a spell failed to win back the woman’s boyfriend.
After the client’s boyfriend left her in 2003, she consulted the witch on a spell that would bring him back.
The client apparently followed the witch’s instructions, carrying out a ritual over several months — under a full moon. The client also paid more than $1,200.
The Munich administrative court said the witch must pay back the money on the grounds that she offered a service that was — in the court’s words — ” objectively completely impossible.”
The witch said she never guaranteed the spell would work.
Why don’t witches have a spell that keeps them out of court? Witches throughout history have been undone by the court system- from Salem witch trials to the Pungo Witch to this case. Maybe a judge to a witch is like kryptonite to Superman or garlic to a vampire.

This is the same guy who cried because he got fired for saying that the 9-11 hijackers were “brave.” Is it brave to wear a Halloween costume of the Crocodile Hunter with a stingray’s tail hanging out of your chest?
I expected it from SouthPark. But Maher is supposed to be an “intellectual.” I think he is a douche. He has never been that funny and this stunt shows what a mental midget he really is. But it is kinda funny that he looks totally bombed in this picture and you can tell he has really bad hair dye. And judging by those guns, Billy needs to go to a gym once or twice.

An idiot at the University of Indiana setup a website that allowed anyone to create fake boarding passes for a NorthWest Airlines flight. He did this in order to highlight a flaw in the checkin procedure for E tickets, claiming that anyone can use photo editing software to forge a false name on the ticket. While his complaint about the vulnerability may have been legitimate, his methods of exposing the flaw was completely wrong.

Security researcher Christopher Soghoian created the Northwest Airline Boarding Pass Generator in the hope of spurring Congress to look closely at the nation’s aviation security policies, which he calls “security theater.”
Soghoian, a Ph.D. student at Indiana University, says he has never used one of the fake boarding passes, which are likely good enough to get someone through airport security into the “sanitized” area of the airport, but not good enough to get anyone on a plane. He was waiting for clearance from lawyers at Indiana University before attempting to test if the method worked to get through security.
Soghoian told Wired News Thursday he built the site to expose security holes, not to help terrorists.
“I want Congress to see how stupid the (Transportation Security Administration)’s watch lists are,” he said. “Now even the most technically incompetent user can click and generate a boarding pass. By doing this, I’m hoping (Congress) will see how silly the security rules are. I don’t want bad guys to board airplanes but I don’t think the system we have right now works and I think it is giving us a false sense of security.”
Soghoian uses the same flawed thinking of virus writers and publishers of exploit code. Rather than remain cooperative with the company or manufacturer of the defective product and wait until they fix the flawed item, be it software or a security process, he jumped the gun and exposed the flaw unilaterally. Some security research companies have sat silently on critical flaws in software and procedures for months and months without exposing them. EEye is a perfect example of a company that urgently wants software to be patched, but will wait and not expose the vulnerability until a patch is available.
Soghoian had the gall to act surprised that all of his computers were seized in an FBI raid. I bet he’s on the no-fly list now too. This huge gaffe represents a critical flaw in his own resume, and it will be difficult for this man to get a clearance for any meaningful government security position. What a stooge.

Simple things. Like the fact that our bottled and canned products aren’t full of deadly poison. Like vodka in Siberia. Remember the nation-wide panic caused by Tylenol that was laced with cyanide back in 1982? Only a few deaths were attributed to that scare, and it led to a revolution in product and food safety. Every time you have difficulty opening a container of mustard because it has an internal seal, you can thank (or curse) the Tylenol scare.
In Siberia, 900 people are dying in hospital beds due to liver failure because some maniac was bottling industrial solvent and passing it off as vodka.

Fourteen towns in the Irkutsk region of Siberia have declared a state of emergency, amid a dramatic upsurge in mass poisonings caused by fake vodka.
Almost 900 people in the region are in hospital with liver failure, apparently after drinking industrial solvent.
Officials say there has been an alarming pattern of localized mass poisonings in recent weeks.
In several of the worst-affected regions, Russian officials have seized large quantities of hazardous liquids that authorities suspected were to be sold as alcoholic drinks.
They say the most common substances are de-icers, anti-rust treatments and window-cleaning solutions.
In one of the largest seizures, 600 tons of solvent was seized in the southern Russian city of Voronezh.
It is an indication of the scale of Russia’s drink problem that during an average month 3,500 people die after drinking such liquids.

It seems that the chronic thuggery and protests at Galludet were successful in getting a deaf woman revoked from her position of President of the University. Despite the fact that Jane Fernandez has been signing longer than most of her students have been alive, she was still considered “not deaf enough,” because she was a lip reader when she was a kid. Despite the fact that she is a woman, the Galludet thugs insisted on her firing because she was not “diverse enough.”
To parents of deaf children- If you want to rob your handicapped child of the best opportunity to earn a degree, send him or her to the leftist Washington DC campus of Galludet. They will get a degree in whining and skipping class, and only half of the students will ever receive a diploma.

WASHINGTON — The board of trustees of the nation’s premier school for the deaf voted Sunday to revoke the appointment of the incoming president, Jane Fernandes, who had been the subject of weeks of protests that at times shut down the campus.
In a statement posted on the university’s Web site, Fernandes said she heard the board’s decision with “deep regret.”
Protesters had said that Fernandes, 50, was a divisive and ineffective leader as provost and that she was not the best person to address problems with diversity, declining enrollments and low graduation rates.
The demonstrators took over academic and administrative buildings this month, blocked campus entrances and forced the cancellation of classes. More than 100 protesters were arrested.
Fernandes, who has been deaf since birth, had refused to resign, saying it would hurt the university to allow protests to determine the school’s leadership. She has said that some people do not consider her “deaf enough” to be president because she didn’t learn to use American Sign Language until she was in her 20s and relied on lip-reading through much of her education.
Some students carried cases of beer across campus and shared in celebration with their professors.
Gallaudet, which receives more than $100 million in funding annually from the federal government, was rated “ineffective” this year by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. The report cited problems with the school’s retention of students and its graduation rate; persistently fewer than 50 percent of undergraduates get their diploma.

Or are they full of idiots? There is a ban on black cat sales and adoptions for Halloween season out of fear that they will be sacrificed by Satanists. Is this ban considered prejudice against religion because a Satanist wont be able to acquire a black cat for a very important religious ritual? Or is it racist because non-black cats can still be adopted and sold during this time?

BOISE, Idaho (Oct. 28) – A black cat won’t cross your path this Halloween, not if a northern Idaho animal shelter can help it. Like many shelters around the country, the Kootenai Humane Society in Coeur d’Alene is prohibiting black cat adoptions from now to Nov. 2, fearing the animals could be mistreated in Halloween pranks – or worse, sacrificed in some satanic ritual.
The shelter’s executive director, Phil Morgan, said that while the risk may be remote, the policy will remain just in case.
“It’s kind of an urban legend. But in the humane industry it’s pretty typical that shelters don’t do adoptions of black cats or white bunnies because of the whole satanic sacrificial thing,” Morgan said. “If we prevent one animal from getting hurt, then it serves its purpose.”
Some animal experts, however, say the practice does more to hurt animals than protect them.
Maybe its just the close proximity to so many cats that make people crazy?

What is up with Calvin Broadus? The man can beat a murder rap, but he can’t read the signs at the airport? Earlier this month the rapper was caught with a weapon in his carry on luggage. It was a 21 inch collapsable baton. Yeah, those airport signs say no weapons, so Snoop only left his Mac-10 at home.
Now he can’t read the signs that say “The White Zone is for the loading and unloading of passengers.” Cops stopped his car (I bet it had spinners!) in a white zone for a violation and when they searched it, they found a handgun and (shocker!) loads of marijuana. He was sprung from the jail after paying his 35 grand bail.

BURBANK, Calif. – Snoop Dogg was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug and gun possession, police said.
The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Bob Hope Airport, police said. Snoop Dogg posted $35,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court Dec. 12.
Airport police officers stopped Snoop Dogg at a loading zone for a vehicle code violation. When officers searched the vehicle they found a gun and marijuana, police said.
“There was no basis for this arrest,” the rapper’s attorney, Donald Etra, said in a statement. “We believe that once this is cleared up, all charges will be dismissed.”
This is shocking enough to make one want to drop his pimp cup! Snoop’s inability to navigate airports is not limited to these United States. Remember the brawl in Heathrow?

As a Virginian, I have been somewhat disgusted at Jim Webb’s senate run this year and the dirty tricks he has tried to pin on a great Senator and Former Governor George Allen. No one had ever heard of the word “Macacca” and Im still pretty certain it is a made up word, but the Webb campaign tried to pretend it was a racial slur, and they tried to paint Allen as a racist.
Now comes the news that as a fiction writer, Jim Webb wrote about a horrible and disgusting scene where a man picks up his child son, turns him upside down, and performs fellatio on him. Gay underaged incest. Real nice, Jim. The book is about the Vietnam war and how much a failure the United States was.

Gays act like this is shocking, breaking news. An Imam (muslim religious leader) in Manchester, England admitted that homosexuals should be exterminated to prevent the spread of sin and disease.

The leading imam in Manchester, England, confirms that he thinks the execution of sexually active gay men is justified, the rights group Outrage reported. Arshad Misbahi of the Manchester Central Mosque confirmed his views in a conversation to John Casson, a local psychotherapist.
Casson said: “I asked him if the execution of gay Muslims in Iran and Iraq was an acceptable punishment in Sharia law, or the result of culture, not religion.
“He told me that in a true Islamic state, such punishments were part of Islam: If the person had had a trial, at which four witnesses testified that they had seen the actual homosexual acts.”
“I asked him what would be the British Muslim view? He repeated that in an Islamic state these punishments were justified. They might result in the deaths of thousands but if this deterred millions from having sex, and spreading disease, then it was worthwhile to protect the wider community.”
But it seems that Gay.Com is still living in a fantasy world, thinking that this is an abberation, and not a common belief among Islam. In fact, they call on “liberal muslims” to repudiate the Imam. Hell, there aren’t many moderate muslims. Good luck finding a liberal one with any credibility. Hat tip to Hot Air.

Michael J. Fox made big headlines this week after the actor took a shaky stand against Republicans in a commercial that ran during the World Series. He claimed that only Democrats wielding power in washington could provide hope for his future by curing his disease.
The real issue is not whether or not Embryonic Stem Cell Research is banned in any state, much less Missouri, but whether or not it will be federally funded. Some embryonic stem cell research is currently federally funded, providing it meets criteria as laid out by the law. But States and universities are going full bore with researching ESC’s, but they do so with private funding.

Ethical questions remain about the treatment of human embryos, and as long as those questions remain unresolved, the Feds should not finance it. They are not financing cloning, either, nor are they financing the harvesting of organs.
So how could Michael J Fox take such a controversial stand on Embryonic Stem Cell Research? That’s easy. Democrats asked him to and Michael J. Fox shook on it.

According to the head of the Muslim religion in Sydney, Australia who gave a sermon during Ramadan, if a woman is raped or sexually assaulted or mistreated in any way, it is her own damned fault for being out of the house. Women wield “weapons” to entice men, and if men rape women, it is only because men are helpless against those weapons.

In a Ramadan sermon that has outraged Muslim women leaders, Sydney-based Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali also alluded to the infamous Sydney gang rapes, suggesting the attackers were not entirely to blame.
While not specifically referring to the rapes, brutal attacks on four women for which a group of young Lebanese men received long jail sentences, Sheik Hilali said there were women who “sway suggestively” and wore make-up and immodest dress … “and then you get a judge without mercy (rahma) and gives you 65 years”.
“But the problem, but the problem all began with who?” he asked.
The leader of the 2000 rapes in Sydney’s southwest, Bilal Skaf, a Muslim, was initially sentenced to 55 years’ jail, but later had the sentence reduced on appeal.
In the religious address on adultery to about 500 worshippers in Sydney last month, Sheik Hilali said: “If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it … whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?
“The uncovered meat is the problem.”
The sheik then said: “If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred.”
He said women were “weapons” used by “Satan” to control men.
“It is said in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement (igraa).”
