Unholy Offspring
Oct 21st
If a VW Hippie Buss mated with a Jeep, this would be its unholy offroad offspring. Definitely the coolest car I’ve seen on this West Coast trip.

Chipping with a 3-Wood in Nepal
Oct 21st
Haven’t had much success with Golden Tee lately. Mostly, the machines I find are either wonky or I simply can’t get a good score. Here is the highlight of last night’s session where I managed to do a 3-Wood chip shot from the shale rough.
Also, you can see a yeti strolling past up on the hillside.

Earthquakes and Rockaway Beach
Oct 20th
So I got the whole California experience. Rode out a 4.2 quake in a downtown highrise 26 floors up.
So I headed out before any aftershocks came my way. Now I’m staying my last night at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. Cloudy, tho.

Spooky Wine
Oct 16th
All of the vineyards in Napa are decorated for Halloween. This was taken inside the tasting room at Trefethen-
In addition to the 15 dollar tasting, I went home with a 30 dollar bottle of Chardonnay. Yeah, its better than the Chardonnay I get at home in Virginia, but perhaps not worth the 45 bucks for the bottle.

Biker on Mt Diablo
Oct 15th
Earlier today I took the rental car to the top of Mount Diablo outside of Walnut Creek, California. The weather was fantastic, and the winding road to the summit was crawling with cyclists- how I managed not to smush one in my grill was a miracle. I did manage to snap this photo, as well as take the panoramic photo below:

Autumn Ivy at Silverado Vineyard
Oct 15th
Who says California doesn’t experience seasons? In Napa Valley, the seasons express themselves with color changes on the vineyard tasting rooms.
This was taken at Silverado Vineyard, where I picked out a great Sangiovese.
Funny- when I was here last in May, it was so cold you needed a coat. Now the weather is warm and the leaves are changing.

San Fran from the Rooftop

Staying at a pretty cool Victorian Bed and Breakfast in the Mission District. From the roof you can see most of downtown San Francisco.

All the Single Women
Oct 12th
i saw this photo on the wall at Harpoon Harry’s in Key West. I have no idea what was going on but one thing is certain- this is the shallow end of the gene pool.
Today is a travel day for me- jetting from Key West to San Francisco- and this may be the only post today. Try to leave the best caption for this photo or check out my archives.

Maidenhead
Oct 11th
Saw this maidenhead in a Key West art store and thought it was beautiful… Until I used a flash for the photo and now I think she is just plain creepy. Yet still awesome.

The Unwisher
Oct 10th
I’m spending the first half of the week down in Key West before I travel to the West Coast to meet with clients.
This fountain is located near Mallory Square and a little boy is perpetually pouring water from a conch shell.
The wet spots on the fountain and pavement was from my son who laughed with glee as he was plucking pennies from the shallow pool and tossing them across the pavement, unwishing the wishes of strangers with delight.

Clowning Around
Oct 6th
Someone got to go to the Halloween Store today. Not sure what this look is supposed to be, but one little four-year-old is definitely counting down the days until Trick-or-Treating begins.

Orangeness
Oct 5th
Orangie Orangeness is the real trend of the week. What better vehicle to park in a pumpkin patch than this orange beetle?
It is hard to believe that summer has finally passed and that the harvest is upon us all.
Seeing the world afresh from the eyes of my four-year-old, who counts down the days to Halloween by the ever changing shades of autumn leaves, the green of summer is gone and the color change of fall can’t come soon enough!
I love the season of hayrides, harvest, and honeysticks! Plump pumpkins and apple pie, early sunsets and drinks by the fire are each a warm component of this season!

Yet Another Threatening Legal Email!
Oct 1st
Once again my website is being accused of all manners of legal evil-doing. This time, a band of Indians (dot not feathers) are threatening to launch DDOS attacks against my website because I once linked to a story over a year ago that details how Aiplex Software was launching distributed denial of service attacks against websites that were illegally hosting their software.

Now Jagadish of Aiplex sends me this threatening letter, accusing me of causing defamation to his company and causing his company to suffer losses due to damages and threats from hackers. Honestly, I never knew I had such awesome power by using hyperlinks to stories others have written!

It was mis-interpreted by the news agency which was blown out of proportion by some of the pirates across the globe. And subsequently we have to face damages/threats from the pirates & undergo immense losses due to their attack on our servers/websites etc.
Although, we did declare that we are not involved in any of those activities as published in the article, we still have to face the consequences for reasons unknown.

Please stop DDoSing me you evil bastards!
Now I get the following response from a lawyer for aiplex, who I’m sure has belch.com in the sites of his nefarious DDoS botnet:
I did clarify that we are not into such unscrupulous activity pls understand that it was a mis-interpretation by a news agency.
Anyways, it is your prerogative to keep it active or disable the link.

I snort loudly, by the way, for every lawyer who sends out a clear text email with a retarded non disclosure warning appended to it. I can disclose anything I want, and I dare anyone to find a law that says posting something like this is a breach of any confidentiality laws.
Who is the Girish Kumar who is spending so much time emailing me? This guy pictured here. The story from theAge in Australia describes further how Girish Kumar was bragging about launching DoS attacks against websites that link to movie downloads.
Anyways, I finally responded:
Wait a minute. Are you accusing me of defamation or not? Am I causing you to suffer damages and threats because of hackers or not? Your email seemed to imply this, and my own legal team will need clarification. And of course, I expect if I don’t comply you will immediately DDOS me, right? That’s what you guys do, right? Send threats and then strong arm/abuse people to bow to your every demand to remove links? So even if you talk about piracy its as bad as committing piracy because now you are going to wreak havoc on my internets page because I linked to a story about you guys running huge DDOS operations against pirates?
Lets see what they say next! In the mean time, Girish has joined other legal scholars who have decided to send me threatening emails. At least this one’s not a clown.

New Golden Tee is Here!
Sep 28th
Monday was Golden Tee Ship Day. Upgrades to the Golden Tee platform was shipped to distributors and owners across the country. This photo from the GoldenTee blog shows what shipping day looks like at the GTG warehouse.

And yesterday some games were upgraded in my neighborhood. And this shot below, while not spectacular, is my first hole-out on the new courses.

Final HoleOut on Golden Tee 2011
Sep 23rd
The New Golden Tee 2012 courses ship on Monday, so this is likely my last great shot of the 2011 season. This is my second shot on Alpine Run’s 5th Hole par 5. I had a great lie after a long slice and was looking at 330 yards to the pin. I used my driver with some forward roll and crushed it.
This was the best shot in an otherwise lackluster game, but my longest hole out in quite a while.

Butterfly Friend
Sep 21st
I’m still catching up with personal photos from this past week. Thought I’d share this one. The family went out apple picking and then stopped by a winery in the Virginia Appalachians this past weekend. Naked Mountain Winery was spectacular, and a good time was had by all.
Cartney encountered a lacewing moth and there were several photos taken that highlighted his sense of youthful wonder and snotty collar (school just started for him), and he really enjoyed the visit from his butterfly buddy. I don’t think the little insect survived his encounter, however.

Busted Toe
Sep 21st
My wonderful wife has only a couple of minor flaws. The worst of these is that she doesn’t have complete knowledge of where her outlines are. The second is that she would rather be barefoot than wear sensible shoes. The combination of these two flaws sometimes leads to catastrophic results.
Thus she somehow tried to punt our steel framed porch swing.
Anyone else think I might have to take this little piggy off with a carving knife?

Maybe I Should Get a Ford Truck?
Sep 18th
It is well known that I’m a Chevy guy. I own two vehicles and I like them quite a bit. But I wasn’t happy with GM crawling to the Feds for a bailout so they could keep giving their workers better retirement they don’t deserve, and to also make stupid electric cars that no one wants. Now comes this epic Ford commercial:

Tribute in Lights
Sep 11th
My delayed flight back from New York last Thursday night was a very bumpy one. The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee was dumping floodwaters from my home up through Pennsylvania and the clouds were beginning to encroach on the NYC area too. My wife kept texting that she was bailing water out of our basement, and I just wanted to get home. As we circled New York on the ascent from LaGuardia to head south, I saw a brief break in the clouds and could see what appeared to be giant lasers shooting into the sky. And then I realized that even with a bumpy ride and flooded basement, I at least, was getting to go home again.
You can see more of John Deguzman’s pics here.
