In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street, I present the most boring clip in the history of Sesame Street- and it features Michelle Obama and her insufferable smugness. At the end some muppets give their consent to be eaten.

Sesame Street turns 40 years old today. That means that as long as I can remember, I have seen those beloved muppets on the TV. I also remember that PBS at one time back in the ’70s were running a telethon to raise money for public broadcasting shows. I was watching because, instead of the telethon, I was supposed to be looking at the Electric Company and Sesame Street. But on the telethon, they were threatening to pull shows like Sesame Street off the air for lack of donations. I remember urging my Mom to empty her purse to keep those shows on the air. She gently told me that no, the shows weren’t going to go anywhere if the market demanded that they stay on the air. It was one of my first lessons in the use of fear and threats for marketing purposes and to not believe everything I see on TV.
