Hate Crime Martyr Now Using Others’ Generosity to Help Others
Brent Whitehouse had his barn burned to the ground and his horses inside fried and fricasseed. Someone had painted anti gay slurs on his barn before torching it. And it was heavily insured and now Brent Whitehouse, who is gay, is claiming he is the victim of a hate crime. Donations are pouring in, including offers of free horses and more and more cash for his reward to find the evil men who burned down his barn. That reward money will go uncollected because it is my theory that Brent burned down his own barn and killed his own horses. But the obvious is overlooked as the press fawns over his generosity in giving away award money to the “unfortunate.”

A second reward, of $2,500, has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) who set the arson barn fire that killed eight horses at the farm of Brent Whitehouse on West Richards Road just north of McConnelsville on April 24.
The Humane Society of the United States put up the reward, which comes on top of the $5,000 offered for information to solve this crime by the Ohio FAIR Plan Underwriting Association, which works with law enforcement, the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the insurance industry to combat arson.
Whitehouse said he continues to be amazed by the outpouring of support from the local community, from across the country and even overseas. Offers of financial assistance have been coming in, as well as seven offers to provide horses to re-establish his equestrian operations.
Whitehouse said he is going to direct virtually all of the money into helping others. And he plans to accept some of the offers of horses, which he said he will train and then give to students who can provide a good home but couldn’t otherwise afford a show-quality horse.
“To keep me going, I’m looking at what good can come out of this,” he said.
Supporters are helping him set up a foundation that will aid victims of violent crime in which any type of pet is killed. He said the foundation also will provide assistance to children who have been the victims of abuse. “Children and animals are the most innocent of God’s creatures,” he said.
Whitehouse said he’s grateful for all the pledges of financial help. “But,” he said, “I’m not going to use it for my personal benefit. I would rather know there is money available that can benefit people who need it more.”
Yeah, spending reward money on yourself would just add years to the jail term he is likely to receive when the fire marshals conclude that Brent set the blaze himself. I might be wrong and maybe there really are hateful arsonists out there, but the odds are way against it. Time and time again, gays perpetrate hate crimes against themselves to garner attention, support, and outrage by the gay community- like some kind of Münchausen syndrome.
