I saw this article and I laughed out loud. An old strings teacher for the public schools in Colorado bopped one of her students on the head with a viola bow. This is funny for a couple of reasons. First, I used to play cello when I was in school, so I know how weird and creepy many Orchestra teachers can be. Second, that bow is an awful tempting weapon. I remember always having to suppress the urge to whack someone with my cello bow.

BOULDER, Colo. — A substitute music teacher, Carla Shinners, 63, a teacher for more than 30 years in the district, has been arrested after allegedly whacking a 10-year-old student on the head with a viola bow after telling the class they were “the worst players I’ve ever heard.”
The 10-year-old said Shinners also pulled her hair.
Briggs Gamblin, a spokesman for the school district, confirmed in a telephone interview Thursday night that she had been fired.
Ever hear “Itsy Bitsy Spider” played terribly on a violin? Its enough to make you want to whack someone with a bow easily.
