Differences Between Liberals and Conservatives
I loved this chart I found over at Planck’s Constant and have reposted it. There are differences between the two:

Okay no offense to that guy… but he sounds more like an anarchist. I think he might like Somalia more :).
I mean it seems like he doesn’t want anyone or anything to be taxed (assuming I understand “individual taxes” correctly, I would assume that would be taxes on the individual).
He is in doubt about the very existance of poor people. Now whats the best way to help poor people in American can be contended (and I am not for a welfare state anymore then any state has to be) but the very existance of poor people… thats like denying the existance of Montana. Beyond that back in the early parts of this country, when we did have near 100% capitalism… things weren’t so good, I don’t want to go back there.
He seems to not understand that sometimes legislation needs to step in for “legislated respect” (look at the case of African- Americans there). And I know I will be unpopular with this belief, but if two people love each other, live together, share all their bills, etc. they should be able to share benefits. Get the word marriage out of the government (if its an ancient religious concept it has no business in government in the first place, if not there is no reason why gays couldn’t get married) and that will get rid of the battle. Course there will still be the “God hates fags people” but they are easy enough to laugh at.
Education will go crazy if we don’t support it. I get doing rid of a lot of the agencies, but the government is more needed then he thinks it is. I am all for school choice (not to mention the ability to choose against school) but that requires government funding for many, if not most, too. Of course this goes back to the poor issue.
Beyond that, roads are paid for by the government. Hard for our country to be very prosporous without those. And just ask Adam Smith (you know the one conservatives all are supposed to look up too) about the problem of the commons. Not to mention a lot of other services (national parks, snow removal… well I could go on and on here). Yea I get away with doing away with the fat, but doing away with the government outside those 3 things altogether… no thanks.

Then I take it Bush (both of them) and Reagan were commie pinkos, not to mention Adam Smith? I mean they were for putting money into education (heck H.W. Bush signed the biggest IDEA legislation into law I believe). The national highway system was largely designed to fight wars and bring national pride to the people (but according to your buddy that deserves no funding). Same thing with National Parks on the second one. Northern Republicans were largely responsible for civil rights legislation, with Dixiecrats being on the other side (I have a feeling your friend was opposed to that). And I still can’t see how he could deny that poor people even exist. Education is considered the great equalizer in society… sounds like your buddy wants to do away with that. Your friends a right wing nut job, just as bad as the “progressive” nutjobs that think that Obama is too conservative.
Poor ED. He never tires of showing what a complete and utter ass he is.
