Stupid PeopleWhy Homeschool?

Reason 872 to HomeSchool: Your Daughter Won’t Be Expelled for Taking Birth Control

Zero tolerance policies are created by liberals that are too afraid to use common sense because they are afraid of all judgments. All races, sexes, cultures, religions- they are all the same; can’t judge anyone or anything; dont use your brain to make distinctions, because for some reason that would be wrong. The same goes for drugs. There is no difference between aspirin and crack cocaine. Neither can be on school grounds, and the penalties are stupidly the same. This fact was learned the hard way by Fresia Jackson, an Oakton High School Senior in Fairfax, VA when she tried to take a birth control pill at school, earning her a 10 day suspension and threat of expulsion. Steve Colbert has this covered below:

The story was picked up by the local press here in the DC area. Check out this awesome excuse for why the 10 day suspension is the norm for any type of drug found on a student:

School Board Member Tessie Wilson says all drugs have to be considered potentially harmful.

We can’t have teachers trying to determine what kind of drug it is, that’s too much of a burden on teachers,” Wilson says.

Wow, if the teachers are too retarded to tell the difference between birth control pills and heroin, what the hell are they doing being in charge of other peoples’ children?

  • Raise your hand if you’re surprised that A) this happened at OHS or B) that it happened in the FCPS. Anyone? Bueller? That’s wonderful. So now this straight-A student has to explain to every college she applies to about her suspension. Some may not even want to hear it. Good to know FCPS is looking out for your kids. Why didn’t they just send her home and ask for a drug test to avoid suspension? Oh that’s right.. Its all about looking tough. Grr.

Most people are concern about kids bringing guns to school. Pretty sure that’s a given. But what happens when your kid is a Junior Olympic Clay Shooter with more than one trophy to her name? No gun involved either.. only some shells.

Okay, this is something that happens all the time. I obviously never did it with these kinds of pills, but my inhaler was always to be in the nurses office, on the 4th floor, when the gym and anywhere where I might need it is on the 1st floor, nothing like running up 3 flights of stairs when you are having an asthma attack. Schools are just paranoid about drugs, no matter what kindof drug it is.

  • Enders,
Yeah, but being paranoid is no excuse for failing to use better judgment, nor common sense.

Have you met many teachers, they lack better judgment and common sense. And this is coming from someone who is going into education myself (thank God not mainstream education). I mean what did they think I could smuggle in an inhaler.
