Shreveport Mosaic Monolith

Downtown Shreveport is the Devil’s armpit. There is a gigantic Larry Flynt’s Hustler club downtown across the street from my hotel, with big neon flashing signs which reminds me of Porky’s, only not as classy. There are towering casinos ringing the riverfront, and three blocks from my hotel are crackheads, homeless vagrants and empty storefronts. An old bank has laughingly been turned into the “Multicultural Center of the South” with a three dollar admission, but no one was going in or out of that place. A block down from this museum to moonbattery was the City Hall, which was the only building that looked nice. Across the street from the city hall was a street corner with a gem of an artistic surprise- A 14-foot monolithic sculpture covered in found items and mosaics. Here are some shots of this with my iPhone:

I love the china that was used to fill out this piece.  Unfortunately vandals have been slowly chipping away at this sculpture.

This is a closeup of the top with the courthouse in the background.

This is the backside of the monolith with an old sadly abandoned building in the background.

Elvis is still the King in Shreveport.  This looks like bits of an old broken plate.

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.
