Phishers Using Hope and Change as Phish Bait

Spam messages are going around asking for true believers to click on a link to see Obama’s acceptance speech. Instead of hope and change, Obamaniacs are getting a dose of rootkit and identity theft.

Here is a screenshot of the page the email takes you too, via F-Secure:

The page has a fake video player and prompts the user to download the player software. Of course, it’s a rootkit that listens for personal information and banking accounts and sends the information to a host in the Ukraine.

Remember, the One can’t save you from your own malware infections, so surf carefully.
