Northern Virginia has lots of chipmunks.  And these little guys are quick too!  If you ever see one run across hot pavement, their tiny legs whirl in circular blurs that become invisible to the human eye.  Its quite cartoonish-  akin to the Road Runner-  or maybe they levitate at high speeds like a Star Wars Speeder that Luke drove in the first movie.


They are so fast they paint racing stripes along their sides.

This chipmunk is one of the several that live along side my home.  A group of them even clubbed up together and dug out a hole underneath my driveway.  They are getting fat too, by eating all of the dropped birdseed from our bird feeders. 

None of this would have bothered me until I saw this video below.  Now I worry about this chipmunk and maybe forty of his friends coming to get me.
