All Ahead Geek Factor Nine!

So how geeky is too geeky?  I’m not exactly sure where this line is drawn.  But I can certainly tell when something has penetrated deeply into the Geekiness Neutral Zone.  And I am pretty sure a Tribble-Stuffing Party is way too geeky for me.

As a background story, my wife knew this woman friend from her former job, and she was a great customer of hers, and a wonderful and friendly lady.  She also happens to be the XO of a local Trek Club.  They have their own ship designation and everything.

Here is an email my wife received, essentially inviting ME to her home for an event with this club.

We talked a bit at xxxxx a couple months ago, and you’d mentioned your husband might be interested in sci fi events at my house.

Don’t get me started on how I feel about being setup on some kind of Trekkie ‘play date.”

On June 16, this coming Saturday, we will be having our annual Tribble-stuffing event.

Everyone who can come and help stuff tribbles will be able to take one home at the end of the evening, so tell your friends! Bring your families!

We’ll be showing TOS “Trouble with Tribbles”, DS9 “Trials and Tribilations” , and the animated series’ “More Tribbles, More Troubles”.

The Diner will ‘open’ at 4pm, and will stay open until 8pm (or as long as folks can stay to help stuff and sew shut the furballs).   Pizza will be served around 6pm.

The tribbles we put together will be used as fundraisers at Shore Leave in July. Ron will be reprising his “Cyrano Jones” character as he hawks tribbles for adoption donations at the convention….only this year he’ll be dressed the part.

Come get a sneak peek at his vest of many pockets on Saturday.

My very pregnant wife wrote her back declining the invitation.  She wrote:

That sounds like a great time! I would normaly jump at the chance to do anything tribble related but I am about to pop any day.

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.
