Margaret Thomas’ Garden

For over 30 years, Margaret Thomas’ Garden has been a magnet in Fairfax County, Virginia for photographers, painters, conservationists and school groups.  We stopped by there today to snap some photos of her beautiful irises which are blooming right now.  To find out more about this wonderful Herndon landmark, go here.  Enjoy the photos below.


This is her side yard showing some poppies and the remainder of her peonies.


Margaret thomas has hundreds of different irises.  She finances her operation with the sale of bulbs and grants from botanists.


Whether tools are left in the ground as part of a work stoppage, or if they are strategically placed for photographers is not clear.  I thought this was a great shot.


In the full-res photo of this, you can see that there is a kitty grave among the irises.
