Stupid, Over-used Liberal Cliche

“Speaking Truth to Power.”

Def 1. A form of public expression akin to a suicide bombing, but its verbal. The truth is whatever the liberal martyr decides it to be. A liberal must decide to become a martyr to leftist ideals and confront a politician, business owner, logging company worker, SUV owner or anyone else who disagrees with a liberal agenda, with a shouted slogan, speech or disruption, often resulting in the feelings of deep embarrassment onlookers feel for the activist.

Usage: I spoke truth to power when I threw red paint at the Salvation Army workers, because, dammit, that army is not going to drag us into their neo-con war for oil!

Def 2. A convenient slogan for leftists to use to refer to someone performing an embarrassing stunt in public that will never result in any change in any policy except for increased security.

Usage: “Wow, when Jamie put on that mask, went into a bank and confronted the tellers about greed and capitalism and their evils, he really spoke truth to power. How much is his bail?”

Def 3. A rite of passage to be accepted among liberal elites of their ruling caste, akin to baptism in a christian church. In order to gain the respect of other leftists and agitators, one must first perform a public “speaking truth to power” action that will gain them notoriety among the press, the police or a bodyguard.

Usage: “We know that Rhane is a dedicated member of our coalition to stop animal testing. She spoke truth to power against those pharmacy companies when she laid down in the street to block those corporate fascists from shipping those pills that cure spinal injuries!

There is a great discussion on this stupid phrase here:
