Deep Bow of Pwnage

Sony execs groveled as they announced their plan to restore the Playstation network.

From PCMag here:

Sony said Saturday night that it would begin restoring its PlayStation Network services this week, and would also give its customers several freebies in appreciation for their patience.

The announcement was made shortly before Kazuo Hirai, the executive deputy president of Sony, was expected to hold a press conference discussing the outage in Tokyo.

“‘We apologise deeply for causing great unease and trouble to our users,” Kazuo Hirai, the frontrunner to take over the top job at Sony, said before he and two other executives bowed deeply.

Separately, Sony said that it will soon begin a “phased restoration” of its online services, including elements of the PlayStation Network, across its various regions. Sony did not say exactly when those services would turn on for the various regions, but they appear to be this week.

* Restoration of online game-play across the PlayStation (PS3) and PSP (PlayStation Portable) systems, including titles requiring online verification and downloaded games
* Access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3/PSP for existing subscribers
* Access to account management and password reset
* Access to download un-expired Movie Rentals on PS3, PSP and MediaGo
* PlayStation Home
* Friends list
* Chat functionality

The restoration will also include a mandatory system update that will require all users to change their passwords. Users will be required to do so on their own PS3 or via a verified email confirmation.

I’m pretty sure that really deep bow is going to make up for the months it will take to restore his customers’ credit ratings once fraud takes place. Comforting, right?
