Whatever Happened to Byron Sonne?

Remember that Hacker who bought the do it yourself shoebomber kit on the Internet and tried to tell the cops who busted him that it was all a joke? His friends sure thought he was innocent, so why is he still in jail?

I’m going to guess he must be having problems trying to convince anyone it was “all a prank to test the defenses of the city” during the visit of the World’s leaders during the G20 summit.

Here is a link to the Wikihow article for all of Sonne’s hacker friends who may be concerned about him, and perhaps they can pass these tips along during a jailhouse visit:

  1.
    1. Think about why you were sent to prison. Is it a serious crime? If so, say that you will never do crime again. The saying, ‘If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime,’ is very true.
    2. Do not cry, show your fear, or vulnerability publicly.
    3. Learn to play spades, pinochle, chess, or basketball as it makes the time go by faster.
    4. Get a prison job which will keep you occupied as the days pass by.
    5. Read a lot.
    6. Work out.
    7. Do not become a ‘punk’ (girlfriend), ever!
    8. Do not snitch.
    9. Stick up for yourself or you WILL be turned into a punk.
    10. Beware of rape.
    11. Keep to yourself, keep your mouth shut and do not tell anyone about your personal life
    12. Do not discuss politics or personal feelings about anyone.

He gets a bail hearing on the 20th. That is just the first decision point on whether or not they will consider letting this guy out. And then he would probably have to get the cash from somewhere to pay for the bail. No word as yet on the real trial.
