Miracle Valley Vineyard

A brand new winery on the Virginia Wine Trail is tucked away just off of Route 17 in Delaplane. The Miracle Valley Vineyard is still introducing its wines, but its tasting room is now open on weekends.

Miracle Valley’s Chardonnay is crisp and refreshing, but it really doesn’t stand out from many other chardonnays in the region. However, their Reserve Chardonnay has aged in Hungarian Oak barrels to impart a light buttery flavor with a citrus finish. It is probably their finest bottle available at this time.

Their best seller is the Sweet Michelle table wine, which has a tropical sweetness and would be a great chilled wine for sipping in the summer on the patio with friends.

The Cabernet Franc is surprisingly light in both color and taste. Most Cab Francs have an almost leathery taste which pairs well with beef, but this one is almost like a semi-sweet table wine, which would make it for almost all occasions and a broader food pairing.

The Merlot needs to finish aging. It was a quite coarse. Perhaps age will mellow it out a bit.

Miracle Valley is releasing their Cabernet Sauvignon later this year in the fall. Over all, their wines were really good for their first bottling, and their beautiful location and tasting room will become a must-see on the wine trail.

Their website is here, and a great article on making their winery-owning dreams come true is here.
