New Yahoo Email

Yahoo email has taken a great leap forward in design and usability. The newest client looks and feels much like Microsoft’s Outlook, especially with the preview pane. Now if they can only get rid of the side bar advertisement….

The best thing about the new Yahoo email client is the outstanding RSS feed reader that is built right in. I used to use my.yahoo.com as my homepage, which auto-updates with RSS content. Now that content is much more viewable in the RSS feed of the email client, because it supports embedded photos and you can read the full stories rather than just headlines.

Up until now I have been using the new built in support for RSS feeds in the latest version of Internet Explorer. And while IE will still pull updates faster than Yahoo will, because it pulls from the local machine rather than a national server, Yahoo offers an improvement because you do not have to replicate your personal RSS feeds among all of your various desktops, laptops and various locations. It keeps everything online so you can check your feeds with any web client.

Yahoo’s new email client definitely plunges a dagger into Gmail. If you don’t have a Yahoo email account, you should try one. Its NICE!
