CVN 77, USS George HW Bush
The last of the Nimitz Class Carriers gets christened tomorrow morning at Newport News Shipyard. The President, both current and former will be on hand to officially put the huge warship into service. This ship will serve America through 2060.
I used to work on these things when I was at the Shipyard. The last ship I had a hand in welding was the Stennis. I had also helped with the Roosevelt, Washington and Lincoln in the years that I was there, and I also helped refit the USS Enterprise, the fastest carrier in the fleet.
