Largest Donation by Public Official

So it seems that Dick Cheney and his wife Lynn gave away three-quarters of their income last year to charity. Almost 7 million dollars went to several charities, many in the local DC area.

From NewsMax here:

Dick Cheney Donates Millions to Charity

In one of the largest sums ever donated to charity by a U.S. public official, Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne gave away nearly $7 million last year to help the poor and to medical research.

According to income tax information released by the White House on Friday, the Cheneys’ adjusted gross income in 2005 was $8,819,006.

The sum was largely the result of Mr. Cheney’s stock options from Halliburton and royalties from three books written by Mrs. Cheney.

The Cheneys gave more than three-quarters of their income – $6,869,655 – to several charities, including George Washington University’s Cardiothoracic Institute and a charity for low-income high school students in the Washington, D.C. area, Capital Partners for Education.

Yesterday some news outlets tried to spin this story as Dick Cheney being greedy because he received stock options from Halliburton, a company that he no longer works for. I didn’t hear about the other side of this story until this morning on the local radio, and was amazed that no one really covered this story.

I wonder how much money John Kerry gave to charity last year?

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.

How the former V.P. R. B. Cheney legally spends his money & how much he gives to charity is his business & the same is true for 2004 Presidential candidate & Sen. J.F. Kerry. But I want to rebut what you imply that the former Vice President Cheney is our friend. He is not our friend on topics that matter most to evangelical Christians. Former Vice President Richard B. Cheney is an apologist for homosexual agenda & don’t regard him as a friend. We must support people who agree with us & I like what Mission America’s Linda P. Harvey & Peter J. LaBarbera say because both Mission America’s Linda P. Harvey & Peter J. LaBarbera tell the truth about the dangers of homosexual agenda which offends gay groups while the former V.P. Cheney is an ally of homosexuals.

I’m neither Democrat nor Republican but the Republican Party has become the meaningless party as Mission America’s Linda P. Harvey says because the Republican Party and the Democratic party both are apologists for homosexual agenda and there are too many Republicans as ex Republican Governor Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger’s an apologist for homosexuality and just as bad as the Democrats. Republican and Democratic Parties are both useless & other thoughts. I am not a Christian but there are topics where I agree with Christian groups. Where I agree with Christians is on the dangers of gay/lesbian agenda and there are many non-Christians and even some atheists who agree with Evangelical Christians.
