Open Source Tools: Robtex

Robtex is a handy utility site that can quickly perform lookups on IP ranges, blackhole listings, and AS assignments, including peering announcements, withdrawals and lots more.

This site comes in handly when troubleshooting possible hostile IP addresses. You can plug in the IP address into the “swiss army knife” application on Robtex’s homepage and see if the IP is known to send spam, viruses, or is an open proxy.

Stop over and give it a try. You can also add an applet to your browser’s toolbar to make lookups even quicker. The little embedded app below is a tool you can add to your own blog or website too.
