Back From Vacation

And Boy do my feet hurt! Walking around Orlando Theme Parks for 3 days straight is insane. My feet think I’m an asshole. They attempted a hunger strike, but were unsuccessful.

Disney has a Great New Coaster in Orlando’s Animal Kingdom called “Expedition Everest,” which is a recreation of a Nepalese village at a base camp of an Everest climb. In the village are numerous shrines to the yeti, climbing gear setup for sale, news clippings of yeti encounters and even a museum dedicated to the quest of Everest climbing, the porters involved in carrying gear, and of course, the yeti. All of the line is designed to recreate a Himalayan experience, and it does this very well. The 60 minute wait time for the coaster ride went by pleasantly.

The new roller coaster involves some new surprises compared to other roller coaster experiences- including surprise backward drops. But mechanically, I’m not too sure if the ride will be able to withstand continual use, since it involves two separate track changes per car. This could inevitably lead to ride outages, but only time will tell if Disney was able to figure out how to engineer such a ride to withstand wear and tear.
