New Head of ISC2 Once Threatened to Revoke My CISSP

Wim Remes is the new head of ISC2. I don’t know him. Maybe he’s a good guy. He joined the board after raging about how the organization would give credentials to just about any yahoo who could pass the CISSP test, and he vowed to fix that. Somehow.

He also wanted to to run a stalinist purge and kick out members with whom he disagreed. Well, maybe not a purge, but he definitely wanted to revoke my credentials. Check out his comments on a previous post here. And here.

The disagreement that prompted his hissy fit in my blog’s comment section was that I was a CISSP in good standing who criticized another CISSP who went to jail for cooking explosives in the basement of his rich wife’s house. Because, a CISSP who is an anarcho-terrorist wannabe with plots to blow up a government meeting is double-plus good. But a CISSP in good standing who disagreed with wanting to blow up a government meeting was somehow the asshole.

Remes is also real close buddies with James Arlen, a fat cranky Canadian security guy who was also a cheerleader for the Anarcho Terrorist wannabe jailed CISSP dude.

Arlen was also raging against me so epically about the same time that I began to receive death threats at my home and over the internet- again, because I’m apparently an asshole who doesn’t think blowing up the G20 was a good idea. Arlen has denied that he was behind the death threats, but he really has a boner to get my CISSP yanked, perhaps with the help of his good buddy Remes.

So Remes could be defined by the friends he keeps. He took sides against a member of his organization in good standing, and sympathized with someone who planted a cache of explosive material in his ex-wife’s garden. These are facts.

And Remes is at the helm of the security industry’s premier Security Club. He also has access to my personal information that is stored at ISC2’s servers.

Will Remes follow through on his vendetta to revoke my CISSP? Will he breach his own organization’s privacy policy and disclose my personal information to friends of his who associate with people who make death threats? Or will he uphold the organization’s ethics? Will ISC2 be better with Remes at the helm? For this last question, Imma hafta say no.

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.
