Sandra Lertzman, Animal Rights Activist, Was a Crazed Hoarder and Animal Murderer

Meet Sandra Lertzman. She thought no one on the planet could take care of her stupid puppies better than her, so when she got all depressed and suicidal, she did what Hitler did- gassed herself and her 31 puppies in a final solution of lulziness.

From WAFF here:

The woman found dead in her car with 31 dogs was an Executive Director at the Animal Rights Foundation.

Moreland Hills Police were called to a home in the 31000 block of Jackson Road on Monday night after a friend found the body of Sandra Lertzman, 62, inside her car along with 31 dogs, most of them puppies.

Police say Lertzman’s car was still running in her garage. Detectives found several prescription vials in the vehicle and a suicide note inside the house.

Investigators also tell 19 Action News one of the puppies managed to get out of the car and get air from a small opening in the closed garage. The surviving puppy is now recovering with a member of Lertzman’s family.

This crazy old lady was living like a hoarder. And animal dung is known to make people a little crazy, but it seems like Sandra Lertzman was crazy for most of her life. Her sadness and mental illness eventually allowed her to “An Hero” herself and take the lives of 31 dogs by asphyxiation. Of course everyone is describing this old bitch as someone with a “very big heart” and “deeply caring” but she was a whackjob and ultimately proved to be deeply cruel to animals.

I’m laughing out loud because Sarah McLachlan is so angry right now she is punching a kitten.

Dr. Jones

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.

  • You're an idiot

    You’re an idiot

What is wrong with you? This story is tragic, and my heart goes out to all involved. I can’t stop thinking of this woman and the despair she must have been feeling to come to this decision.

I knew this woman. Her son died 13 years ago and she never really recovered. She also had a very difficult past. Your post is cruel and uninformed and you had better pray to god that we never meet.

  • She had a mental illness and was an animal hoarder. The story is not tragic, but all too common. Her decision making ability was evidently severely broken. Where was her family and why didn’t they get her the mental health care she so obviously needed?

  • Why should I pray to God that we never meet? This woman was a mentally ill animal hoarder who was deeply cruel to her pets. So did her difficult past make it okay to commit suicide and kill puppies in a makeshift gas chamber? You seem to think it was okay.

What an uneducated ignorant fool you are – you need to get a life. You are disgusting. How sad you have such low self esteem that your postings are the only way you can achieve some semblance of being noticed.

  • Awwwww……
Gail, I have never killed a single puppy, much less three dozen of them. How is it that I am disgusting yet you seem to think that a mentally ill woman and puppy killer is somehow not? You have a poor sense of judgement. This mentally ill hoarder should have had someone watching over her. At least the puppies are now in ….
    THE ARRRRRMS OF AN ANGELLLL…..

OK, it is really sad what happened to this woman, yes. BUT, I’m also mad that they are making her out to be some kind of hero. REALLY? A HERO? A compassionate woman? People are making excuses for her. Bottom line, there is NO excuse for what she did. Come on people. Look at what she did!!! If she suffered from depression, or some other kind of mental illness, maybe she should not have been trusted with these animals; or maybe she should have gotten help! (Despite what people say or think, there is all kinds of help available out there.) I’m SURE other people were aware of her “condition.” Why is everyone making it sound like it’s “OK’ what she did? I’m feeling sad for the puppies. What she did was SELFISH. It makes me SICK. I keep thinking of that poor puppy who was fighting to survive, the one that escaped the car, and stuck its nose through a hole for fresh clean air. Those poor dogs didn’t have a say in the matter. Just trust me when I say that I am WELL aware that severely depressed/suicidal people aren’t thinking clearly. BUT, HOW WOULD PEOPLE BE REACTING IF IT WAS CHILDREN INSTEAD OF DOGS THAT SHE “MURDERED”? Why are some people making this out to be some kind of mercy killing, and actually feeling sorry for this lady??? The woman was obviously mentally ill, and it’s sad that she didn’t get the help that she so CLEARLY needed! There ARE signs, but it seems that friends, families, and co-workers are always in denial until AFTER something HORRIFIC happens.

  • So well said Jeannie! A lifetime of good deeds and noble sacrifice does not allow you to be a dog murdering psycho at the end of the same life.

  • Vicki

I am with Jeannie……. you said it well. This was a horrific thing to do to these poor puppies…… kill yourself if you want…. but take no one or no animal with you… You do not have that right.

  • Lorraine Wardley

You ignorant asshole, shame on you!!! Where is you’re compassion?… where is you’re soul? You and assholes like you are the reason this world is in the state it’s in!… asshole!!!

  • Lorraine, you are so right. Its absolutely more compassionate to kill yourself and as many puppies as you can cram into your car with you. Thank you for seeing the error of my ways.

  • Lorraine Wardley

Dr Jones, I can understand her logic at that time she was no doubt thinking what sort of life these poor animals would have to endure without her complete love and devotion and so she decided they would be better off not suffering a loveless life, because animal lovers see so much cruelty and neglect it really does make you believe that the majority of the human race are without empathy for animals.. and so she took them with her no doubt in the hope they would all be together in a better place than this, uncompasssionate, cruel world. I am an animal lover, I have two beautiful dogs and if I were to die i would want them to be with me, souly to know they would be safe and loved, I couldn’t trust anyone to give them the life they have had, so unless you understand the compassionate mind of a true animal lover you have no right to pass such judgement. God bless her

  • No right to pass judgement? Spoken like a true whackjob. I have every right to pass judgement Lorraine. The ability to judge right from wrong was a gift from God. Only crazies want us to ignore our instincts and refuse to judge anything. So you are a murderer suicide pet killer too? Please call animal control and have those pets removed for their own safety. Thanks.
