The Boston bombing case has revealed failures on many fronts.

Yesterday, Boston Police Commissioner Davis testified before Congress that cops on the Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force had never been told about the FBI’s investigation into Tsarnaev back in 2011, so they had no reason to keep an eye on him.

Worse, they weren’t told until after the deadly shooting in Cambridge, so local cops had no reason to go look for him during those several days after the bombing.

Think about that: A guy is on not-one-but-two terror watch lists, he has traveled to Dagestan — and after three people are killed and hundreds injured, the FBI doesn’t even have him on their radar.

Nobody from Tsarnaev’s mosque notified his department about Tsarnaev after his shouting matches with fellow Muslims. Or after some in the Islamic Society of Boston feared he was becoming extreme in his views. The Muslims of our community should have approached the cops. They didn’t.

And Davis’ solution?

“Government should tighten security around celebratory public events and consider using more undercover officers, special police units and technology, including surveillance cameras,” according to his testimony.

“Images from cameras do not lie. They do not forget,” Davis said. “They can be viewed by a jury as evidence of what occurred.”

Wait — so the FBI and my Muslim neighbors sit on information before and after a terrorist bombing, and you want more spying on?…?me? How does that make sense? I have to stumble from one Back Bay bar to another under government monitoring because the feds didn’t want to tell the cops about a local Muslim guy with connections to Chechen terrorism?

And who cares about the “viewed by a jury” part? That’s for prosecuting crimes after the fact. How about doing something to prevent the next bombing before it happens?

The Boston bombers didn’t almost get away because we had a surveillance failure — we had an intelligence failure. A suspect who should have been front and center was, somewhere along the way, swept under the rug.

“More spying” isn’t the lesson to learn. “Smarter, targeted spying” is.

I think more cameras are indeed good for forensics purposes, but cameras are not a preventative measure. Only by actually following up on intelligence will stop another domestic terror attack. Queasiness and lack of political will to do what is obvious- monitoring radicals in Muslim communities- is the only way we will prevent another Boston bomber. But as long as liberals are running things, we remain in danger.

At first, I thought, “awwww, poor praying mantis,” but then I was reminded of the soldiers in Aliens begging to be killed after implantation.

An American lawyer representing detainees at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp has been found dead in an apparent suicide.

The body of Andy P. Hart, a 38-year-old US federal public defender, was found last week with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Truthout, an investigative blog, news of the attorney’s death came only this Wednesday from an investigator working on Guantanamo detainees’ habeas corpus petitions. That investigator requested anonymity.

According to court documents, Hart had previously represented Kahlid Saad Mohammed, a 39-year-old Guantanamo detainee from Saudi Arabia who was transferred back to his home country in 2009 after being identified as having only “low-level” terrorist affiliation.

Perhaps most notably, Hart was assigned to defend Mohammed Rahim al-Afghani, one of 16 detainees at Guantanamo which the US government has designated as “high-value.” Al-Afghani, thought to be Osama bin Laden’s translator, was detained by the CIA and allegedly tortured prior to his arrival in Cuba in 2008.

Of course conspiracy theorists are going to come out of the woodwork now that this crusading lawyer shot himself. Leftists are already trying to connect this suicide to Dick Cheney.

he University of Wyoming Police Department says Meg Lanker-Simons created the anonymous threat of sexual violence targeted at her on social media last week.

Lanker-Simons accused an anonymous source of posting a threat of rape on the Facebook page “UW Crushes” on April 24. But the citation issued Monday claims Lanker-Simons admitted to making the post, then lying about it.

UW Crushes was a forum designed for students to anonymously write about their love interests and sexual desires. UW administrators have since had the page removed. Prior to its removal, anyone could have signed into a Facebook account, gone to UW Crushes and secretly submitted a comment via a link to surveymonkey.com. The posts were then made public on Facebook.

“I want to hatef— Meg Lanker- so hard,” the Facebook post read. “That chick that runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it. I think its hot and it makes me angry. One night with me and she’s gonna be a good Republican b—-.”

Lanker-Simons is a well-known liberal blogger and radio host whose fans were upset about the Facebook comment. The post sparked rape-culture awareness protests on Monday at the university.

Lanker-Simons also has detractors. She and former 1960s radical Bill Ayers sued UW in 2010 to allow Ayers to speak on campus about education issues. Lanker-Simons and Ayers won the case, and Ayers spoke on campus later that year. Many people were outraged at Lanker-Simons. She claimed to have received death threats.

Nobody wants to fuck Meg Lanker, hatefully or otherwise. Her imagined injustices makes her a bat-shit crazy loudmouth. Couple that with her obesity, bad breath, and lack of showers, and she will be completely unfuckable. Rape culture is imaginary, and this rape culture fantasy is especially prevalent on college campuses.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a written warning about accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012, long before pressure-cooker blasts killed three and injured hundreds, according to a senior Saudi government official with direct knowledge of the document.

The Saudi warning, the official told MailOnline, was separate from the multiple red flags raised by Russian intelligence in 2011, and was based on human intelligence developed independently in Yemen.

Citing security concerns, the Saudi government also denied an entry visa to the elder Tsarnaev brother in December 2011, when he hoped to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, the source said. Tsarnaev’s plans to visit Saudi Arabia have not been previously disclosed.

The Saudis’ warning to the U.S. government was also shared with the British government. ‘It was very specific’ and warned that ‘something was going to happen in a major U.S. city,‘ the Saudi official said during an extensive interview.

It is one thing for the government to fail to protect us. It is something completely insidious for the government to not even try. Why are we spending billions of dollars for DHS programs if they won’t even bother to try to do their jobs? Obama refused to protect his State Department ambassador in Benghazi. Now he is refusing to protect Americans in their own cities.

Boston bombing suspect and fugitive Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a “normal pot head” who supported President Obama for re-election last November, according to friends and his Twitter account.

Chris Barry, who attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with Tsarnaev, described him as normal teenager who loved to smoke pot and cigarettes every day.

“He was a pot head, a normal pot head,” said Barry in an interview with Politico. “I couldn’t even imagine him being mad at someone let alone hurting someone.”

Tsarnaev, a Muslim, did not come across as strongly religious, said Barry.

“He never brought it up. It seemed like he could care less,” he said.

Tsarneav’s Twitter account provided clues about the suspected bomber’s political views. On November 6th, he retweeted several statements suggesting a preference for President Obama over Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Why did I bother to go out of the way to mention this terrorist was a Democrat? Because I guarantee you that if he was a Tea Partier, the news would never stop talking about it.

The suspects were identified to The Associated Press as coming from the Russian region near Chechnya, which has been plagued by an Islamic insurgency stemming from separatist wars. A law enforcement intelligence bulletin obtained by the AP identified the surviving bomb suspect as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, a 19-year-old who had been living in Cambridge, just outside Boston, and said he “may be armed and dangerous.”

Two law enforcement officials told the AP that Tsarnaev and the other suspect, who was not immediately identified, had been living legally in the U.S. for at least one year.

My late night blog post was somewhat accurate in that these were students. At least one attended Bunker Hill Community College for engineering. And they certainly weren’t interested in any tax day protests.

Definitely not the guys from my earlier post. But what the main suspect in the black cap is wearing does seem to lean toward a person with a professional wardrobe- guys in Information Technology often dress in khakis and brown leather shoes. And their bombing method is definitely something out of the Anarchist’s cookbook, and they used batteries commonly used for remote control toys- perhaps a device that could have received a radio frequency signal like a model airplane.

I’m thinking it may have been a technology student like at MIT- or an Occupy Wallstreet “activist” or even someone associated with Anonymous. Occupy “activists” attempted to blow up a bridge in Cleveland, after all. The men are way too young to have a significant complaint about Tax Day since they hadn’t dumped as much cash into the IRS as everyone else. Of course these cretins are about to get caught and only then will we know what their motive was- but I get the feeling that anarchy and anti-capitalism was the motive. Until the FBI brings these guys to justice, feel free to ponder the motive in the comments below.
