Now her parents are understandably heartbroken. But now they are a crusade to ban texting while driving in their state- as if that would somehow have prevented the stupid actions of their precious angel.

Taylor Sauer, a teenager who was texting every 90 seconds during her four hour commute from Utah State University to her parents’ home on January 14, made a fatal mistake while behind the wheel.

Her prolific last text was ‘Driving and facebooking is not safe! Haha.’ Seconds later, she slammed into a tanker truck at 80mph.

Now, Ms Sauer’s grieving parents are hoping to use their daughter’s tragic story as a way to change driving laws, and make texting while driving in Idaho illegal.

She was driving late at night down a stretch of flat highway. Her last message was: ‘I can’t discuss this now. Driving and facebooking is not safe! Haha.’

Moments later, Ms Sauer slammed into a truck that was crawling up a hill. She was killed instantly.

Do all your texting at stop lights like me. People will beep to tell you when its time to go.

A 21-year-old loner from Armstrong County had an arsenal in his bedroom, a radical Islamist online persona and videos suggesting paramilitary training before his arrest last week for biting two FBI agents.

Mr. Begolly “has a strong desire to kill non-Muslims and many other groups of people,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Soo C. Song. “He was preparing, and he was getting closer and closer to bringing his words and aspirations to fruition.”

Mr. Begolly was arrested after two FBI agents approached him Jan. 4 at a New Bethlehem Burger King, seeking to talk to him even as other agents executed search warrants on his father’s Mayport farmhouse and his mother’s Natrona Heights home. The parents are divorced.

He reached for a Makarov pistol, for which he had no concealed carry permit, and then bit the agents as they wrestled him into handcuffs. He is charged with assault upon an officer of the United States and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime.

Mr. Begolly’s bedroom contained 14 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, a fake hand grenade, a military helmet and a gas mask, said FBI Special Agent Thomas W. Ferguson III. Three of the firearms, including one found under his pillow, were AK-47-type rifles.

One online post by Begolly detailed how an old Buick could be turned into a car bomb using gasoline and tanks — apparently of propane — that could be ignited with a gunshot.

Another talked of “being a suicide martyr on your school,” or taking school kids as hostages and demanding the freedom of Muslim prisoners.

Other online communications dealt with how to handle an arrest attempt. “I would make Waco look like a tea party,” and another said anyone faced with arrest should hurt the agent in any way possible, in a bid to become a martyr.

Shawn Begolly, the defendant’s father, can be heard on some of the videos. In one, the voice said, “Now you wounded him now” in apparent reference to a direct hit on the pumpkin.

Ms. Sims said he was accused of no violence “other then against a pumpkin” before the FBI “snuck up on him” as he sat in his mother’s car in a Burger King parking lot. She said he suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder that affects social ability.

And how about that? Claiming to have Aspergers, which I’m certain is a self-diagnosis just like all cases, is becoming a common claim of defense lawyers everywhere. To lawyers, having aspergers equals insane equals innocent. Its a bad trend.

Together they were operating a shop called the “Trippy Hippy Company” whose initials were T.H.C. (heh, get it? like pot, man!) and also selling marijuana and oxycodone over the counter.

The cops didn’t like them selling dope so they shut them down. Good thing too, as their store was chronically (get it, chronic, heh!) robbed according to the blog on their MySpace page. Caution. This page attempts to compromise your computer via javascript. No need to visit, as it is garish, ugly, blanketed by peace symbols and drug references, as you would expect. Oh, and it featured this animated gif of serial killers rolling a joint.

This is Lee. He is an insane Hawaiian environmental nutbag who fired shots in the lobby of the Discovery Channel Building in Silver Spring Maryland today. He is demanding an end to TLC and Discovery Programming that promotes reproduction and instead demands new TV shows show people how to sterilize themselves and stop growing food.

A Fairfax County man has been arrested after picking up a 17-year-old girl he met on MySpace, taking her to a townhouse in Annandale and then stabbing and raping her.

The incident occurred Saturday morning, and police learned of it after the girl had escaped from the man and called for help.

She had become friends with a man on the social networking site MySpace, and that they had planned to go to Tysons Corner for a meal and a movie. The man picked the girl up at her residence in Fairfax County around 11 a.m. Before they went to Tysons, the man told the girl, he had to stop at his “aunt’s house.”

The girl went inside with the man and the attack began. After being sexually molested, the man produced a folding knife and stabbed her numerous times. He then dragged her to a bathroom, then to some stairs and raped her as she tried to fight him off. She said the man tried to clean up the blood she had spilled around the townhouse during the struggle.

On Monday, police arrested Rony N. Herrera Deleon, 27, who lives in the 6700 block of Barrett Road in the Falls Church area. Herrera was hanging cleaning business brochures on front doors when he was picked up.

Herrera was charged with abduction, malicious wounding, rape and inanimate object sexual penetration. He was being held in the Fairfax County jail Tuesday without bond.

If he was working for a cleaning service, let this be a reminder to do background checks on people before you let them in your home to do work.

I had predicted that Lori Drew wouldn’t do a day in jail. This case was about lying to someone over email, and if the Federal Government wants to start prosecuting that, they need to build a whole lot of new jails.

The judge in the case just dismissed all charges against Lori Drew because to convict her of lying on a website would also convict everyone else who has ever done the same and he called that unconstitutional.  Lori Drew is now a free woman.

A federal judge on Thursday tentatively threw out the convictions of a Missouri mother for her role in a MySpace hoax directed at a 13-year-old neighbor girl who ended up committing suicide.

U.S. District Judge George Wu said he was acquitting Lori Drew of misdemeanor counts of accessing computers without authorization but stressed the ruling was tentative until he issues it in writing.

She was convicted in November, but the judge said that if she is to be found guilty of illegally accessing computers, anyone who has ever violated the social networking site’s terms of service would be guilty of a misdemeanor. That would be unconstitutional, he said.

Prosecutors had sought the maximum three-year prison sentence and a $300,000 fine, but it had been uncertain going into Thursday’s hearing whether Drew would be sentenced.

Drew’s bond was exonerated by the judge.

Defense attorney Dean Steward said outside court that the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles should not have brought the charges in a case that originated in Missouri and was rejected by prosecutors there.  Steward said the ruling should mark the end of Drew’s criminal case.

My heart still goes out to the Meier family and I hope they can some day find peace.

MySpace, the social network owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, said it will cut 30 percent of its staff to lower costs as it struggles to stay popular in the face of rising competition.

MySpace will be left with about 1,000 employees, it said in a statement released on Tuesday. The company declined to say how many people work at the service, but the percentage suggests that about 400 people will lose their jobs.

The cuts are the biggest move so far by new management at the social network and an attempt, it said, to return the service to a “start-up culture.”

I think MySpace has lost so much marketshare to FaceBook that it may never recover. I think the only way they can capture the market back is to clean up the site. Standardize on just a few clean templates, get rid of annoying ads, or better yet, allow users to get a cut of the ad revenue, and tighten security.

A Pitt County school teacher resigned after being arrested in Wilmington over the weekend.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, 27-year-old Jessica Bailey Wishnask of Leland was arrested and charged with indecent liberties with a minor.

Police say a patrol officer spotted a suspicious vehicle.  As he approached the car, the officer found Wishnask in “intimate contact” with a 15-year-old boy.

Wishnask was an 8th grade language arts teacher at Pactolus Elementary School. Wishnask began teaching in Pitt County February 2 and resigned Monday, May 25 after her arrest.

Prior to her Pitt Conty teaching job, Wishnack was a 7th grade language arts teacher at Williston Middle School and was suspended in October and November of 2008 and resigned Dec. 31, 2008 for personal reasons. She moved out of a home in Leland, leaving her young daughter, shortly after she resigned and moved to Greenville NC, 135 miles away.  She and her husband are in the middle of a separation.

I wonder if Wishnack’s husband is divorcing her because she is a disgusting child molester?  No word as yet on who the 15 year old is, but I’m betting he is a former student of hers.  She is out on bail right now and recently logged into her MySpace profile here, which has a non-zombie photo of her.  She changed her mood to “smart.”  I think not.

An Irish-born computer hacker, working on a U.S. military base in Baghdad, used elaborate computer-hacking methods, personal information and direct threats against four Brevard County teenage girls because he wanted nude photos of them. Some of the victims complied by sending pictures of themselves naked or in states of undress.

After a five-year investigation, FBI agents arrested Patrick Connolly on Friday in Atlanta on one count of computer hacking. He faces more charges, and is expected to be transferred to Orlando shortly.

Connolly started harassing a 14-year-old Rockledge girl in 2005, after hacking into her computer and contacting her using an instant-messaging service on America Online.  Using the screen name “Cucumbersn7,” he instructed the girl to take a picture of herself taking a shower. He then sent her proof that he knew her home address.  She sent a photo with clothes on, but he persisted, and then threatened to harm the girl’s sister.  The victim told authorities that she did not want to worry her pregnant mother, so she sent 10 photos of herself naked. She then stayed off the Internet for a long time.

However, when she finally went back online, Connolly found her again. He demanded more photos, and when the girl declined, he created a MySpace page featuring the previous photos she had sent him.

The second victim was a 17-year-old Rockledge girl who was contacted in a similar fashion in 2005.

Connolly embedded programs into the computers, which gave him remote control of the computers, and allowed him to look at photos and read files belonging to the teenage girls.  At various times, Connolly deleted permanent files on the computer of a second teenage girl for refusing to send suggestive images, and warned he would send explicit Webcam images made by a third teenage girl to her grandmother if she didn’t take more photos of herself.

Connolly worked in Baghdad for Tennessee-based EOD Technology Inc., a U.S. Department of Defense contractor. But a spokesman said he no longer was a contract employee with the company.

This guy was hardly an elite hacker, but he did manage to evade capture for a long time. The article goes into more detail on how the FBI played a cat and mouse game with the creep to try to determine who he was and where he was.
