Farmville Dustbowl

Disaster struck millions of lonely Facebook users today when the Social Networking Site went offline due to problems with their backend database systems. During the outage, over 230 million acres of virtual farmland had crops die as well as several million deaths of sad looking virtual cows.

Once the site came back online, hundreds of thousands of users were bombarded with requests from people who have yet to be defriended or ignored to donate shovels to help bury the dead virtual animals.

  • So funny, really, but my puppy was gonna DIE!

Kidding. Thank goodness for farmville.com which was up and running just fine. Also, they were nice enough to turn off wither and the count on when you’re supposed to feed a growing puppy before it runs away. Those Zynga people are very thoughtful during outages. They know how hardcore we FarmVille fanatics are. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • PS – I don’t mind if you judge me, but virtual farms are a lot easier and free to maintain since I no longer have land in NYC like I did back in VT. It’s my way of getting back into the dirt.
