A crane that collapsed in NYC last year is being blamed on a crummy welding job done by Chinese laborers. It seems that the crane company was too cheap and short-sighted to use an American company that may have actually known how to lay a decent bead.

Federal investigators are linking a cheap repair job in China with last May’s deadly crane collapse on the Upper East Side.

According to government documents obtained by the New York Post, New York Crane and its owner opted for a Chinese firm that could repair the crane’s turntable faster and cheaper.

RTR Bearing says it took the job reluctantly and even advised New York Crane to do the repairs in the United States. RTR also says it bears no responsibility because it completed the weld according to New York Crane’s specifications.

Two construction workers died when the crane came crashing down on East 91st Street.

Is there no job that Chinese laborers can’t screw up?  They make children’s toys with date rape drugs in it.  Make dog food?  Let’s put poison in it!  Make baby food?  Let’s put chemicals in it to destroy the kidneys!  Make stew for the village?  Lets put rust remover in it!

Yes, all welders are stupid.  But the Chinese ones are extra stupid.
