All of the news outlets were beating around the bush about Chaudry Rashid, the man who murdered his daughter by strangling her with a bungee cord because her divorce would bring shame to the family, by not saying that his actions were the result of his religious beliefs in Islam.

Infidel! I KILL You! After I kill my daughter, you are next!
And in fact, the media is still beating around the bush about it. And while they won’t come right out and say that this troglodyte was Muslim, the Atlanta Journal Constitution let it slip that he is requesting halal food while he rots in jail. Thanks to RedAlerts.Com for the followup to this story.
A Pakistani man accused of killing his daughter five days after she filed for divorce to end her arranged marriage wept in court Tuesday, telling a Clayton County magistrate he is innocent.
“I have done nothing wrong,” Chaudhry Rashid told Chief Magistrate Daphne Walker through interpreter Younis Farhat. Farhat said Rashid speaks primarily Urdu and Punjabi.
But police say Rashid, 54, used a bungee cord to strangle Sandeela Kanwal, 25, early Sunday morning in the family’s Utah Drive home in Jonesboro.
Rashid, who is being held without bond, told the judge he wanted to observe his Muslim beliefs in the Clayton jail. He wants to follow a diet that forbids the consumption of pork in any form and requires other meats are prepared according to Islamic rules.
Hmmph. First off, I told you he was a Muslim. Second, I think that following Muslim beliefs is what landed Rashid in the county poke in the first place, so any requests along religious lines should be denied.

I just wonder about the people who were holding out hope that he wasn’t Muslim. What part of more than a thousand years of honor killings and Jihads made it unclear as to how Muslims conduct themselves?
Those are the people who insist that Christians and Hindus do it too, and they are on a quest to prove it.
