Pediatricians Ask Nosy Questions

Michell Malkin highlights a story by Michael Graham that appeared in the Boston Herald here about pediatricians who grill 5-year-olds about what types of guns are in Mommy and Daddy’s houses and whether or not they are locked up.

And if the kindergartner answers a certain way, the Toddler Doctor calls the cops and reports the parents as a threat to the child.

From MM here:

Debbie is a mom from Uxbridge who was in the examination room when the pediatrician asked her 5-year-old, “Does Daddy own a gun?”

When the little girl said yes, the doctor began grilling her and her mom about the number and type of guns, how they are stored, etc.

If the incident had ended there, it would have merely been annoying.

But when a friend in law enforcement let Debbie know that her doctor had filed a report with the police about her family’s (entirely legal) gun ownership, she got mad.

She also got a new doctor.

So it got me to digging around at the American Academy of Pediatrics website, and I was surprised that the organization is not so much an advocate for children’s medical issues, but mostly an organization with a strong liberal agenda, trying to outlaw gun ownership among parents and criminalize smoking around children.

Any tot-doc that wants to grill my child over my freedoms will be met with a stiff poke in the eye. Pediatricians are hereby advised to begin wearing safety goggles.
