Geekrage- Pyrodice Gets 7 Years for Arson

Russel Tavares, aka “Pyrodice” became livid in an online flame war and drove 1,300 miles to Texas from Virginia and burned down the home of his internet rival.

He pleaded no contest and was given 7 years in the poke.  Below is a picture of Tavares from his Myspace Page here dressed as a metrosexual pirate at a Renaissance Festival.  Seriously, how could you get so pissed off if someone calls you a nerd when you post these pictures?  What a dork.

From the AP here:

A Navy man who got mad when someone mocked him as a “nerd” over the Internet climbed into his car and drove 1,300 miles from Virginia to Texas to teach the other guy a lesson.

As he made his way toward Texas, Fire Controlman 2nd Class Petty Officer Russell Tavares posted photos online showing the welcome signs at several states’ borders, as if to prove to his Internet friends that he meant business.

When he finally arrived, Tavares burned the guy’s trailer down.

This week, Tavares, 27, was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading no contest to arson and admitting he set the blaze.

If you can’t handle the flame wars, stay off the internets.

Do not talk about fight club. Oops.

Good on him for not taking sh*t from an a**hole. Too bad he had to pay so dearly for his self respect.

  • RE That other photo from the other commenter. It’s the same one that shows up in the google Cache of pyrodice.livejournal.com so it’s probably legit. That Livejournal has been deleted unfortunately.

  • You’re right. Mal. That guy did a LOT more than call pyrodice a nerd. He was and still is a horrendous person, a ridiculous troll, and an absolute dick.

    May he rot in hell.

But pyrodice throwing away his life on that piece of human garbage, that’s just sad.
