Islamic Slave Traders

Muslims have trafficked in the slave trade since the days of Mohammad.  In fact, it was Muslims that rounded up this nation’s blacks in Africa and sold them into slavery.  The notion that white Christian men romped through the jungle with nets to hunt Africans for the slave trade is patently false.  It was Muslims, with the okay of the Koran, who piled Africans into slave-pens for pickup.

This 19th-century engraving depicts an Arab slave-trading caravan transporting black African slaves across the Sahara. The trans-Saharan slave trade developed in the 7th and 8th centuries as Muslim Arabs conquered most of North Africa. The trade grew significantly from the 10th to the 15th century and peaked in the mid-19th century.

And this slave trade has not stopped.  But the United States is going to unilaterally issue its own sanctions against countries, which are mostly Islamic, if they do not stop selling people into slavery.

From Reuters here:

The United States accused its Arab allies Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar on Tuesday of being among the world’s worst offenders in permitting the sale of people into the sex trade and indentured servitude.

In an annual report on human trafficking, the United States included the four in a list of 16 countries subject to possible U.S. sanctions, including the loss of U.S. aid and U.S. support for loans from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The others in this category were Algeria, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Uzbekistan and Venezuela.

Under U.S. law, these countries have three months to improve their record before being slapped with sanctions.

The other countries are either outright Communist or extreme socialist in political views.  Except for oddly enough, Ecquatorial Guinea, which is majority Christian and Catholic.  They are an oil rich country on the watch list for buying slaves to work as farmers and household workers.  Which is ironic considering many African slaves originated in that region.
