The Gashouse (Gastonia) is in my neck of the woods. I think this guy had a MySpace but there’s nothing on it.

You know, I used to hang out on Craigs List all the time and was always amused at some of the posts in women seeking men and how women would complain that after their post they would have to clear out 40 pictures of guys sending in pictures of their JUNK. I was amazed that this seemed to not only be normal, but almost expected.

I read this story and the thought instantly crossed my mind that this coach thought, “Hey, a chick will talk to me. Quick, let me send her a photo of my Tool!”

The guy is a perv and should get fired. Thanks for checking the Myspace acct.

I think that you guys need to make sure that what you are posting is correct. Needless to say….Randy did do something really bad, but we are not to judge. I am not going to go into detail of what you said that was wrong only to protect Randy and his family. I think you guys should find something else to write about and leave it up to the police and news to keep the public updated.

I stand ready to correct the record. What was said that was wrong?
And who will protect Randy’s Victim’s family? Are you part of his family? If so, find out if he registered as a sex offender yet.

Redjessbest wrote me offline and said:

no I am not a part of his family. He and His family
attends our church and still do. I totally agree that
He should pay the price for what he did. I have a
daughter (3 yrs old) and would not want a sex offender
to teach nor be able to have access to my child. His
family is the ones that are hurting and need support.
His addiction is like any other addiction. It will
take time to HEAL and time for him to prove his self.
As for being registered…I am not sure if that takes
place after all the court hearings or not, or if he
is already registered.

I replied:

I do understand that sex addiction is a real issue and perhaps with the proper professional counseling, he will be able to overcome his addiction. But he will always be a sex offender and he should never be allowed around children unsupervised.

His court case was supposed to be earlier this week or last. Was he found guilty?
As far as not judging him, well, God gave us the ability to observe dangerous situations and people and to avoid placing ourselves in harm’s way. Failure to use proper judgment is the realm of the foolish.

I frequently get complaints that I shouldnt judge people. I frequently refer them to this article I wrote on my blog:
http://www.belch.com/~blog/2006/03/14/brilliant-lawyer-employs-you-dont-know-me-defense/

As I said before, if I wrote something that is incorrect I will change it. If you dont like that I have written a scathing article pointing out the criminal activity committed by a member of your congregation, well…
Too bad. You found it I’m sure by using Google. Every employer, acquaintance and potential child victim will be able to type in his name into a search engine and know what he has done.

We can forgive, but Google never forgets.

That and the fact that Va has some of the worse penalties for those that possess child pornography. Once the deadline passes for any appeals, I can give more details.

Perhaps it is bad penalties. But the prosecutor is likely also to blame. In Hampton VA they sent a nearly blind man to jail for 17 years to distro of kid pr0n. http://www.belch.com/blog/2007/01/22/coach-caught-with-kidz-pr0n-gets-17-years/

The key to the teacher in Hampton Va was that he was brought up on Federal charges. The Feds dont play around.

Just doing some research and came across this blog. I’m no expert, just trying to understand some things. It sounds like he did have a good lawyer b/c from what I’ve read VA laws are more severe than NC. Or it could be that what the media published and the actual facts were two different things. That’s besides the point. I do believe the punishment fit the crime. However, this is the part I don’t understand. After researching the county he is in I found that the majority of offenders who have actually physically molested a child (some as young as 4) have gotten off with probation. Also, to correct someone from earlier. It was 20 years. 5 years for each felony. He was also charged in NC for the actually downloading. They don’t have this charge in VA, therefore it doesn’t fit double jeopardy. One more thing, we should protect our children from these types of terrible acts but why is child pornography even allowed to make it to the internet. There shouldn’t even be access and I KNOW the government could do something about it. But wait let me guess, The 1st Amendment. If someone started a website selling crack cocaine over the internet it would be shut down in a minute.
